Developer API
Developer API Docs
Bring DockMe's eight PDF tools into your application. Use the examples below to send a request and save the resulting PDF.
Get started
Use a free account and API key to integrate PDF operations. Free includes 1,000 counted requests per UTC day and up to 3 active keys. Rate and input limits apply.
Send your key in the Authorization header as Bearer YOUR_API_KEY. Requests are synchronous and return a PDF on success. Keep your real key on your server; do not include it in public browser code. The browser tools remain available without an account.
HTML to PDF
Generate PDFs from HTML in your application
Turn HTML markup into a downloadable PDF document.
- Include CSS in a style element or inline styles to keep the document self-contained. There is no separate asset-upload field.
- External images, fonts, and styles depend on availability to the server. Relative links to files on your computer will not work.
- HTML input is limited to 5 MB. Complex content may exceed the processing timeout.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/from-html' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data '{"html":"<html><body><h1>Hello</h1></body></html>"}' \
--output 'document.pdf'URL to PDF
Capture public web pages through the API
Save a public web page as a PDF for sharing.
- The page must be accessible without your browser session. Private and local network targets are rejected.
- Login-only pages, bot protection, cookie prompts, and content that loads after interaction may prevent a useful capture.
- Rendering has a time limit. DockMe does not provide custom cookies, headers, or wait settings in this tool.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/from-url' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data '{"url":"https://example.com"}' \
--output 'document.pdf'DOCX to PDF
Convert DOCX documents in your workflow
Convert a Word DOCX document into a shareable PDF.
- Upload one DOCX file up to 20 MB. Legacy DOC and other office formats are not accepted by this tool.
- Font availability and document features can affect layout and page breaks. Exact Word rendering is not guaranteed.
- Password-protected or damaged documents may fail to convert. The form has no password field.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/from-docx' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected]' \
--output 'document.pdf'Images to PDF
Combine images into PDFs through the API
Combine JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, or TIFF images into one PDF.
- Accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF. HEIC, SVG, and WebP are not accepted.
- Upload up to 20 files, each up to 20 MB, with a combined limit of 50 MB.
- File order follows the displayed upload list. Page layout is determined during conversion; there are no custom page-size or margin controls.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/from-images' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected];type=image/jpeg' \
-F '[email protected];type=image/png' \
--output 'images.pdf'Merge PDF
Automate PDF merging with the DockMe API
Bring multiple PDFs together in the order you choose.
- Merge 2 to 20 PDFs, each up to 20 MB, with a combined limit of 50 MB.
- The operation joins complete documents in file order. To include only selected pages, extract them first with Split PDF.
- Damaged or password-protected files may fail. There is no password-unlock feature.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/merge' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected]' \
-F '[email protected]' \
--output 'merged.pdf'Split PDF
Extract PDF pages in your application
Extract exactly the pages you need into a new document.
- Upload one PDF up to 20 MB. Page numbering starts at 1.
- Use commas for separate selections and hyphens for inclusive ranges, such as 1-3,5. Each page must exist in the input document.
- The result is one PDF containing the selection, not a ZIP or a separate file for every page.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/split' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected]' \
-F 'range=1-3,5' \
--output 'split.pdf'Rotate PDF
Rotate PDF pages through the API
Fix page orientation across all or selected PDF pages.
- Upload one PDF up to 20 MB. The same chosen angle applies to all selected pages.
- Page numbers start at 1. Comma-separated selections and inclusive ranges must refer to pages in the document.
- The tool changes page orientation. It does not straighten tilted text within a scanned page or edit page content.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/rotate' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected]' \
-F 'angle=90' \
-F 'pages=1' \
--output 'rotated.pdf'Compress PDF
Add PDF compression to your workflow
Try reducing PDF size for easier sharing and storage.
- Upload one PDF up to 20 MB. Compression uses fixed settings; there is no target-size or quality slider.
- Images may lose detail and document appearance may change. Keep the original and review the result.
- Already optimized or text-heavy PDFs may not shrink; the output can be larger. DockMe returns the processed PDF even when it is not smaller.
Replace YOUR_API_KEY and the sample input with your own values. A successful request saves a PDF to the output file.
curl --fail-with-body --request POST 'https://dockme.io/api/v1/pdf/compress' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' \
-F '[email protected]' \
--output 'compressed.pdf'
